Hi all,
Anyone know how easy/difficult it is to get a parking permit for a car in
Westminster. I've been to the website and have seen the list of documents.
Is it as easy as rocking up with all those documents and the money? Anyone
know if there is a limit to the number of permits per residential household?
I'm thinking 1 per household...

Thanks for any help

In Wandsworth, you have to supply copies of the reg document and your
council tax papers both with the same address as proof of the car and
where you live. If it's a company car IIRC you get a letter from your
company. There's not a limit on the number of cars that I'm aware of, but
each must be registered in the driver's name, ie husband wife and live in
offspring. You're not allowed two cars with just one driver. Sob.

So surely you give the wife the sensible car and keep the 2 door sportscar
in your name?

:)

I may be wrong but I think it is easy enough to hand over the cash and get
one... but the smallprint says having a permit does not guarantee a parking
space...

It's easy enough to get one if you have the right paperwork. However since
JUly 5th Wesminster have increased the amount of paperwork you need to show,
a bit over the top I know. I picked up mine last weekend from the onestop
shop in Victoria Street. Needed to show V5 registration document, driving
licence, insurance certificate AND schedule (not even the police ask for the
schedule!!) and then you need the docs to prove where you live, despite all
those having your address on, so also took bank statement and council tax
demand, but a recent utility bill is ok. The fact that I'm on the electoral
role was also checked when I was there, the fact that I pay my rent to
Wesminster COuncil never came into it. Also you can no longer buy a
quarterly permit and are forced to buying an annual permit at £105. At least
I dont have to dig out all that paperworkd for another year.
